Spirituality in neuropsychological perspective

Braj Bhushan — Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.

This paper attempts to project some of the significant researches on yogic practices and focuses on how the whole orientation of research has changed over a couple of decades throughout the world, especially in the area of cognitive neuropsychology. It deals with Vedic and spiritual recommendations, and the scientific testing and empirical proof of these practices in view of brain imaging techniques. It further goes to the practical applications of their outcomes, and examines certain hypotheses and limitations faced by researchers in this area. The paper also looks at the contribution from the Indian side.
