R.L. Kashyap Sri Aurobindo Kapali Sastri
Institute of Vedic Culture, Bangalore.
This paper deals with the distinction between the psychological interpretation of the Vedas according to Sri Aurobindo, and other spiritual interpretations. It also grants recognition to the powers residing in the psyche of a human being and the corresponding powers in the cosmos, known as gods. An exposition is also made about the specific psychological powers associated with the various deities. This is followed by a comparison of the view of Vedic sages with those of moderns on the four key ideas of work, enjoyment, progress and mind. Finally, the ideas of the Vedas on how to develop psychological powers such as will, inspiration, mental clarity etc., are taken up.
