The subliminal self and its relation with the outer personality
Ananda Reddy Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry.
The subliminal is the largest part of our being consisting of the inner mind, inner vital, inner physical. It connects the psychic or the inmost being and the outer or the external being. It is in fact the true source and support of the whole superficial man all his higher activities of the mind and the vital such as the inspirations, intuitions, ideas, will-suggestions, sense-suggestions etc. Being open directly to the higher superconscient consciousness, the subliminal self is endowed with surprising faculties: the subliminal mind is open to the universal knowledge, the subliminal life communes with the universal life and the subliminal physicality is in contact with the universal forceformation of the Cosmic Matter. The subliminal is also the link between the past births and the future births of the psychic being. The inner mind, the inner vital and the inner physical are the keepers or carriers of the essential elements of the past quantum when the soul recedes from the body. A deeper experience of and contact with this most dynamic part of our being becomes indispensable if we have to understand our outer personality and later transform the outer nature.
