Nothingness (shunyata): essence of all phenomena
Prashant Ratan University of Delhi, Delhi
Shunyata is the concept of “void”, “nothingness,” “emptiness” in Indian Psychology. It is the concept of the true nature of all phenomena “cosmic and human”. The present theoretical paper gives an explanation of the concept of “shunyata” and the manner in which it manifests in the life of individuals. Major theories on the notion are discussed and personal reflections are furnished to show how “shunyata”/ “nothingness” is the substratum of “Existence.”
