Effects of yoga in the alleviation of psychosomatic disorders

Yoga has occupied an important place in modern life, though it is of ancient origin. It is a well-known fact that the World Health Organization is emphasizing on alternative medical procedures. In today's hectic life, natural methods of alleviation of even simple ailments are ignored. The importance of yoga cannot be over emphasized. Research on yoga is increasingly evoking interest among biologists as well as psychologists and other social scientists. The present investigation is a longitudinal study, taken up to examine the effect of yoga on psychosomatic disorders with special reference to migraine headache. The objectives of the present study are: 1.) To study the effective functioning of yoga kendra in inculcating interest among the patients with psycho-somatic disorders; 2.) To enroll the patients with psychosomatic disorders in yoga Kendra; 3.) To conduct practise programmes (Intervention) in coordination with yoga Kendra, and; 4.) To observe on an absolute level the effect of yoga on psychosomatic disorders like migraine.
